Baystate Medical Center’s (BMC) Inpatient Palliative Care provides specialized care services to hospital patients as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Patients admitted to BMC can receive palliative care services for conditions related or unrelated to their hospital admission.
Palliative care focuses on improving quality of life for patients living with serious or life-threatening illnesses. Palliative care provides specialized, multidisciplinary medical care to address pain and symptoms of serious illness, while also offering support for patients making complex medical decisions, as well as support for their families and caregivers. Our approach is holistic, caring for the patient and their support system, while ensuring that treatment plans align with the patient’s goals and values.
Our expert team collaborates with the patient’s existing medical team to address all aspects of care. Palliative care is provided alongside curative treatments without limiting treatment options and is based on the needs of the patient, not the patient’s prognosis. It is distinct from hospice care.
We offer free, on-site parking 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All preferred visitor parking is fully accessible.
