The House Cup

The House Cup is a residency-wide initiative designed to motivate residents to engage in both educational and wellness activities while fostering a growth mindset, team spirit, and healthy competition. Residents are divided into three houses, earning points for their house by participating in activities such as attending morning report on time, community service events, logging procedures, receiving kudos, and attending monthly wellness events with at least 30% of their house members. Wellness activities include pickleball, walks or runs at the local Ashley Reservoir, apple picking, attending the Big E, indoor rock climbing, and more. Points are earned collectively, and houses share a quarterly reward (like a sponsored after-hours gathering) as well as an annual prize, where the winning house receives a wellness day for all its members.

Residency Retreats

Our residency program offers a series of longitudinal retreats designed to support residents at every stage of their training. Each retreat is carefully crafted to foster connection, promote wellness, and enhance leadership skills. For example, the Intern Retreat focuses on building camaraderie and a culture of teamwork through activities like icebreakers and group exercises, while the Manager Retreat encourages reflection on guiding values, communication styles, and personal growth. As residents progress, the Senior Retreat emphasizes leadership, professional development, preparation for the transition to post-residency careers, and a commitment to sustaining our community beyond residency. Held at unique locations such as farms, vineyards, bowling alleys, and axe houses, these retreats offer valuable opportunities for relaxation, reflection, and both personal and professional growth throughout the residency journey.

Annual Events

We celebrate a wide variety of annual events that foster community and camaraderie among our residents. These include the Intern camping trip, an evening at the escape room, the annual residency party welcoming our learners to the Baystate family, the holiday gala, a ski trip, the resident and fellow talent show, and a memorable graduation event. One of the highlights is our annual Resident Appreciation Week, where we take a moment to recognize and celebrate all the hard work our residents put in each day.

In addition to our internal events, we are fortunate to be located near the Big E—America’s Premier Exposition and the world’s only multi-state fair. Held in nearby West Springfield, it is the largest event on the East Coast and the seventh largest fair in North America, representing all six New England states. Attendees can enjoy hours of entertainment, delicious food, and the best that New England has to offer, making it a cherished tradition for us New Englanders.
