Audiology and Hearing Services
Fortunately, you don’t have to face these challenges alone. Our caring audiologists at Baystate Rehabilitation Care are here to work with you, providing tests and treatments to address your hearing problems in the way that’s best for you.
You can experience problems with your hearing in several ways. Sometimes, depending on your specific type of hearing loss, the problem can come on so gradually you may not realize there’s an issue.
Think about whether any of the following scenarios describe you. Do you:
- Find that words sound muffled?
- Feel that listening has become hard work?
- Avoid crowded rooms and stay away from social events because of difficulty hearing?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, you may have a hearing problem.
Baystate’s audiology professionals can evaluate and diagnose your hearing condition. An accurate evaluation of your hearing is the first step in your treatment. Some of the many hearing tests we perform include:
- Acoustic reflex testing – depending on your type of hearing loss/injury, this may be part of a multidisciplinary approach with our sports medicine professionals
- Acoustic reflex decay testing
- Auditory brainstem response testing
- Impedance testing
- Pure tone audiometry
- Tympanometry
You have a range of treatment options available to you at Baystate. We provide training and counseling services to patients with hearing loss. Depending on your specific type of hearing loss, we also offer assistive devices and other treatments, including:
- Cochlear implants
- Ear molds
- Hearing aids
We also repair these devices. In addition, we’ll work with you to improve your listening skills as part of your treatment. This training will help you maximize your hearing ability and make the most of your assistive device.
Our audiologists are Baystate employees and don’t make commission on device sales. This means they only consider your best interests when they recommend assistive devices for your condition.
