THAO ENGLERT, DO
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended Wichita State University for undergrad. I took my first fieldtrip with medicine to the beautiful state of West Virginia where I completed medical school at WVSOM. I look forward to advancing my training in Diagnostic Radiology at UMASS – Baystate and exploring Massachusetts and the surrounding New England area in the next few years. In my free time, I love mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing and anything outdoors with my family and animals.

Formal portrait of Samuel Obringer, DO

SAMUEL OBRINGER, DO
Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Howdy, I'm Sam! I was born and raised in Ohio where I attended The Ohio State University for my undergraduate degree in Health Sciences. I then stuck around in central Ohio for medical school at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Dublin campus. I was lucky to have gotten some exposure to radiology during medical school, and I quickly realized what an amazing specialty it is. The ability for radiologists to provide crucial answers for the clinical team and work collaboratively with a wide range of specialties is ultimately what drew me to the field. The dark room and hot coffee certainly helped too!

After nine years in central Ohio, it was time for a change in scenery, so I made my way up to New England after completing my intern year in preliminary medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. I chose Baystate not only for the strength of the training the program offers, but the beauty of Western Massachusetts as well. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, and rock climbing with my wife. The area provides plenty of great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors! Otherwise, you'll find me spending my spare time with friends and family, trying new restaurants/breweries, and playing video games.

Formal portrait of Sarah Sevigny, DO

SARAH SEVIGNY, DO
Campbell University Jerry M Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah, and I grew up in Hudson, NH where I lived my entire life up until medical school at Campbell in NC. I was the first of my family to attend college and was fortunate enough to follow my dreams and make it into medical school. Although I loved the southern climate, New England is my home! I chose radiology surprisingly early in high school when I attended ultrasound appointments with my cousin during her pregnancy. Baystate was the perfect choice for my residency due to its proximity to family and the supportive nature of the program.

For fun, I enjoy spending time with my four dogs: three Chinese Shar Peis and a French bulldog! I love spending time at the beach and camping which is another reason I chose MA. A perfect day for me would include great food and live music!

Formal portrait of Kennedy Tobin, MD

KENNEDY TOBIN, MD
University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but primarily grew up in Eatonville, WA, a small, rural town nestled in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Neurobiology from the University of Washington and my medical degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. I am extremely excited to be here at Baystate for residency. I also look forward to exploring the surrounding areas as I continue to cultivate my hobbies outside of medicine including pickleball, tennis, snowboarding, hiking and getting together with friends.

Formal Portrait of Dr. Hari Nath

HARI NATH, MD
New York Medical College

Greetings! My name is Hari Nath. I was born in Bensalem, PA but when I was 5 years old moved to Salem, NH, which is where I grew up and consider to be my hometown. For undergrad, I studied Health & Societies (a major similar to public health) at the University of Pennsylvania. I then spent a year in Bethesda, MD doing research in radiation oncology at the National Cancer Institute. For medical school, I attended New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. After graduating, I completed my internship at Winthrop Hospital/NYU Langone Long Island in internal medicine. Although I enjoyed the 5 years I spent in New York, I was eager to return to New England and was fortunate to get the chance to come closer to home for my radiology training here at Baystate!

Portrait of Dr. Madeline Stever

MADELINE STEVER, MD
University of Limerick

I grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, and earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Laurentian University in Sudbury. During my undergraduate years, I was actively involved as a competitive swimmer and completed a thesis at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. I pursued medical school at the University of Limerick in Ireland, where I continued my passion for swimming, representing Ireland in both national and international competitions. This experience not only allowed me to advance academically, but also allowed me to blend my athletic interests with my medical training.

My interest in radiology was deeply cultivated during my clerkship rotations, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of patient care through imaging. I was particularly drawn to the role of radiologists in interdisciplinary communication, appreciating how their work significantly impacts patient care and enhances collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals. Outside of my medical pursuits, I enjoy a variety of activities including swimming, karate, running, tennis, hiking, and traveling. I also cherish spending quality time with family and friends.

Portrait of Dr. Emily Van Antwerp

EMILY VAN ANTWERP, DO
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine

Hi everyone! I was born in Rhode Island and grew up in Andover, MA, a suburb of Boston. I attended The Ohio State University, where I majored in Biology. After completing my undergraduate degree, I moved to West Virginia for medical school. There, I met my husband, Gage, and discovered my passion for radiology.

Determined to return to my roots for residency, I chose Baystate Medical Center as my top choice for its ideal location, close-knit community of residents, and excellent training program. My husband and I were fortunate to couples match; he is currently a PM&R resident at UConn, just a short distance from Springfield.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy running marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice, meal prepping with my husband, and embracing my new role as a mom to our sweet baby girl. As a family, we love trips to the beach and spending time with loved ones.

Portrait of Dr. Ziyu Xian

ZIYU XIAN, MD
Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University

Hello! I’m Ziyu. I was born in China and moved to Philadelphia at the age of 11. My family has a strong engineering background so initially I wanted to be an engineer as well. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh, but it was through volunteering at a hospice that I found my true passion for medicine.

I went back to Philadelphia and attended medical school at Temple University, where I discovered my fascination with radiology. I was captivated by the diverse range of pathologies and the chance to collaborate with various specialties. Then, I decided to come to Baystate for my residency training because I was drawn by the close-knit, family-like atmosphere and the rich variety of cases.

Outside of medicine, I have a passion for travel. I love exploring new places, sampling unique foods, and immersing myself in different cultures. Gardening is another hobby of mine—I have over 20 plants in my apartment and dream of starting a vegetable and herb garden if I ever have a backyard.

Dr Louise Duvalsaint

LOUISE DUVALSAINT, MD
Wayne State University School of Medicine

Hello, my name is Louise, and I am originally from Delaware. For undergrad, I attended the University of Delaware where I majored in biomedical engineering with plans of becoming an engineer. But when I discovered that I preferred a career in medicine, I completed a postbaccalaureate program at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. While I was there, I volunteered in the emergency department here at Baystate Medical Center. I then attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. I later completed my intern year in internal medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Now I am back at Baystate pursuing a career in radiology.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy exploring new places, shopping, and streaming shows.

Dr Mansha Khubchandani

MANSHA KHUBCHANDANI, MD
Terna Medical College

Hello everyone, I’m Mansha! I was born in Mumbai (India), grew up in the Middle East, and completed my medical education in Mumbai. Hailing from a family of doctors, it was natural for me to aspire to join their ranks. My father, an interventional radiologist, is my role model and inspired me to pursue radiology. In fact, I still have a nostalgic childhood photo of me with a radiology book in hand! To me, radiology is like solving a captivating puzzle—piecing together clues from patient histories, physician insights, pathology, and surgical details to diagnose abnormalities. It feels like revisiting those classic Scooby-Doo mysteries, don’t you think?

After my virtual interview at Baystate, I instantly felt within my comfort zone and realized it was the perfect fit for me. The welcoming faculty, strong intercollegial support, camaraderie among residents, and dedicated ancillary staff all contribute to a nurturing environment that fosters the holistic growth of a developing resident.

Outside of the reading room, I’m all about embracing life’s adventures. I have a passion for dancing and have spent over a decade in formal Indian classical and contemporary dance training, which I continue to actively pursue. I also enjoy reading, listening to and playing music, traveling with my travel-buddy and fellow radiologist husband, spending quality time with my family, and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes as well as some cherished ones "borrowed" from my mom's cookbook (but let's keep that between us).

Dr Camilla Ramezanzadeh

CAMILLA RAMEZANZADEH, DO
Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine - Middletown

Hi everyone. My name is Camilla, and I was born and raised in Jersey. I began my journey into medicine and my migration further north, majoring in Biology in Albany, NY, and then attending medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, NY. I have always loved archeology, and after completing an elective rotation in radiology, I was surprised at the similarities between the two. Searching for knowledge that will give us an understanding of who we are and what we have been through, whether digging or scanning for it. It was then that I quickly realized I had found my passion within medicine.

When interviewing with the attendings and residents at Baystate, the collaborative and inclusive atmosphere truly stood out. Baystate’s Radiology Residency Program represents an ideal blend of collaborative learning, community engagement, and personal support. I even had the opportunity to represent Baystate and Massachusetts at the annual ACR conference in Washington, DC, to help advocate for radiologists and our patients at a national level.

In my spare time, I enjoy completing puzzles, playing board games, listening to murder podcasts, and visiting various haunted locations.

Dr Nilisha Regmi

NILISHA REGMI, MD
Jinnah Sindh Medical University

Hello, I’m Nilisha. I was born and raised in the beautiful valley of Kathmandu, Nepal. I was selected by the Pakistan Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) under merit to study medical school in Pakistan. It was nerve-wracking, and exciting decision at the same time to embark on a journey to a new country just after completion of my high school. I completed my medical school at Sindh Medical College, Karachi.

After Medical school, I decided to pursue my residency in the US. I was excited to match at Baystate Radiology. The initial interview experience in the program felt very welcoming from the residents and chiefs. Baystate Medical Center being a Level I trauma center with a diverse volume of cases also garnered my interest in the program initially. Now, A PGY4 resident I am glad that I chose this program. The support we receive from the faculties and focus on resident education is wonderful Not to mention, being in New England, the magnificent four seasons you got to enjoy. Being from a mountainous country like Nepal, I love Hiking, and hiking during the fall foliage here in New England puts the cherry on the top.

Outside of radiology, I love to take care of my indoor plants, aquarium, and workout (strength training and yoga). During COVID times while preparing for interviews I taught myself a beautiful art form of quilling watching YouTube videos where you create different shapes and art using colored paper ribbons.

PG5

Dr Ahmed Farag

AHMED FARAG

I was raised in Alexandria, Egypt, where I also went to medical school. I fell in love with radiology very early on in my medical career. Initially wanting to be a surgeon, I would frequently experience the interactions different surgical specialists have with radiologists, and how impactful radiology was for directing patient care. I first moved to the United States in 2019 to Birmingham, Alabama, where I had an eye-opening year participating in research exploring artificial intelligence applications in radiology. My own history of several sports injuries and surgeries inspired me to pursue a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging, and I hope I can have the impact on the life of others that musculoskeletal radiology has had on me.

In my free time, I like to lift weights, sketch and paint, and occasionally refurbish and repaint furniture when time allows. I also enjoy all the outdoor activities that western Massachusetts has to offer; from hiking to biking to kayaking...all of it! Recently, I have started playing tennis with some coresidents and friends. And I love nothing more than spending a quality day at a beautiful beach, which reminds me of my beloved hometown, Alexandria.

Dr Jordan Fielding

JORDAN FIELDING

I am a musician-turned-physician that left New England years ago just to wind up back here for residency! I grew up in Rhode Island, but my music career took me to Chicago where I lived for about a decade. It was there where I met my wife, who was also a Chicago transplant all the way from Arkansas, and when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, we moved to Arkansas so that we could be closer to family. We had our first son before medical school, and a set of twin boys in the middle of my second year.

Family is so important to me and my wife so when it was time to apply for residencies, we were looking for a program that would give me the best training possible but also valued and understood the importance of life outside the hospital. Baystate checked those boxes for us and has been a great support system for me and my family throughout my training. We welcomed our fourth son at the beginning of my residency and since then my family has been thriving here in Springfield! Outside of work I enjoy camping and spending time outdoors and New England is perfect for that. I also like to work on my barbequing skills I picked up in Arkansas and, while I may have traded in my microphone for a Dictaphone, I still love playing music.
Dr Fatima Haqqani

FATIMA HAQQANI

My name is Fatima Haqqani, I was raised in Houston, Texas, but I've lived all over the south! I did undergrad at the University of Florida where I majored in Business Administration. I attended medical school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Moving to New

England for residency was quite the culture shock for me but I ended up loving it here as well as my program at Baystate! I will be returning to the southeast for a breast imaging fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.

I became interested in radiology during my third year by happenstance while studying for my USMLE exams, but I fell in love with the dynamic and diverse nature of it. You can see every interesting case within the hospital. Breast imaging specifically gives me the option to participate in direct patient care as well as perform procedures. All radiology gives you the opportunity to participate in patient care in various stages of their lives, but breast imaging allows you to firsthand witness the positive impact you can have with early detection. I am passionate about improving access to the screening mammography programs in underserved populations.

My partner Jacob is doing his PhD in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry. In our free time we love to travel- I've been to over 27 states domestically and 13 countries on 3 continents. My favorite place to be is the beach! I also enjoy cooking, photography, and painting.
Dr Brennan Morrison

BRENNAN MORRISON, MD

I am from Kansas City, where I also completed medical school and an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. I was immediately inspired by the ability of imaging technology to reveal unseen aspects of the human body and to help solve complex diagnostic dilemmas.

Outside of work, I like to spend time training for triathlons, hiking, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. I was particularly interested in a small, collaborative residency program that offered one-on-one educational opportunities and exposure to a variety of complex cases and imaging procedures. During residency, I also had the opportunity to travel to London, England to present a poster on pediatric injuries at the International Skeletal Society annual meeting. Thanks to the wonderful training and support from our faculty, I will be pursuing a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology.
Dr Philise Williams
