Program Accreditation
The Baystate Medical Center Midwifery Education Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), 2000 Duke Street, Suite 300, Alexandria, VA 22314. For information about accreditation, contact ACME directly at 240-485-1803, support@theacme.org, or theacme.org The program was reaccredited in 2018 for the maximum period of 10 years, and is currently accredited until 2028.
Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the national certification exam of the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and receive the designation of certified nurse midwife (CNM) upon successful completion.
The CNM designation and Baystate Midwife Education Program's curriculum are recognized by all states for licensure, by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for prescriptive authority, and by all states that enable advanced practice nurses to prescribe.
Institutional Accreditation
Baystate Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program is accredited by the ACGME Residency Review Committee in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

We have more than 140 graduates since our program's inception in 1992, all of whom have passed the AMCB—most on the first try. Baystate Midwifery Education Program provides a full-time and part-time course of study. All students attend full-time.
