A Vibrant and Supportive Med-Peds Community

Year after year applicants tell us that our residents are friendly, approachable, supportive and among the happiest group of Med-Peds residents they’ve met on their journey.

As one of the larger programs in the Northeast, at Baystate we have a strong Med-Peds identity and presence. Our residents like to get together, inside and outside of the hospital. Whether you are new to the area, or just new to our program, it won’t be hard to find someone to show you around.

Here, the focus is on you, the resident. Elsewhere, it is common for fellows to dominate clinical training. We take tremendous pride in the education we offer to our residents and in supporting our residents in reaching their career goals within outpatient medicine, hospital medicine or subspeciality.

Our Faculty are Med-Peds Leaders

All members of our program leadership have served in executive leadership or on committees with the Medicine-Pediatrics Program Director's Association.

Our Program Director and Associate Program Directors are Med-Peds trained, and the majority of our faculty are double-boarded in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.

Members of our Med-Peds faculty serve in leadership roles within the inpatient and outpatient settings at Baystate Medical Center.

And all of our hospitalist faculty are Med-Peds trained.

Continuity Clinic: All Ages, All Stages

Our continuity clinic at Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center was the first combined Med-Peds ambulatory training site in the U.S.

Throughout the course of training, you will have your own panel of patients from newborns to all ages. Within a well-resourced community health center with integrated behavioral health, community health workers, case management, financial counselor, clinical pharmacy team and on-site specialists (just to name a few services provided), we provide comprehensive primary care to our community.

Life Outside of the Hospital & Clinic

Yes there is life outside of residency training, and we encourage you to experience it!

Living in Western Massachusetts there is opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty, and arts & culture of the Pioneer Valley. There is something for each season. Our residents love the outdoors; skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, camping and climbing. Our residents enjoy the cultural diversions of—theater, concerts, lectures, museums, and dance venues. There are also delicious restaurants of diverse cuisines and ice creameries to explore. See what else makes living here so special.
