Gastroenterology Fellowship

The Gastroenterology Fellowship at UMass Chan - Baystate is a 3-year ACGME-accredited program that provides comprehensive training in all aspects of gastroenterology, including advanced endoscopy, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal motility.

Diverse Pathology

Baystate Medical Center is the premier referral center in western Massachusetts—we have a large patient population with a diverse spectrum of GI disorders.

You will have ample exposure to gastrointestinal disorders in the inpatient as well as the outpatient settings.

We believe it is important that you have the opportunity to tailor your training to your aptitude and interests.

All fellows receive excellent general training in gastroenterology. In addition, those with specific interests will have the opportunity to develop additional expertise in disciplines such as, advanced endoscopy, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, and natural orifice surgery.

Upon successful completion of our program, you will be well-positioned to take the gastroenterology certification of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

The UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate Gastroenterology fellowship program is dedicated to providing a well-balanced, academic experience to its trainees. Our ACGME-accredited 3-year Gastroenterology program provides comprehensive experience in all consultative and procedural aspects of gastroenterology including advanced endoscopy, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal motility.

Our program emphasizes 28 months of clinical training and includes 8 months of clinical research. Fellows will receive comprehensive training in the evaluation and management of a wide variety of patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
