When Your Child Grows Up
If your child has been diagnosed with CHD, he or she will need to be monitored throughout adulthood. Thanks to advances in diagnostics and cardiac surgery, kids with congenital heart disease (CHD) are living well into their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond.
As our pediatric patients transition into adulthood, our care grows with them. Baystate Health’s Adult Congenital Heart Program ensures a consistent and seamless transition of care.
You can rely on our adult and pediatric cardiologists to work together and to consult with you and your family. Most young people with CHD transition to adult cardiologists between the ages of 18 and 21.
