About Our Practices: 
The Baystate Pain Management Centers are the only comprehensive, interdisciplinary centers for the care and treatment of patients with persistent pain in Western Massachusetts.

We provide treatment for chronic and acute pain using the latest methods of pain relief as well as comprehensive palliative care for patients with cancer or intractable pain.
 

Our Services:

  • Nerve blocks: injections with local anesthetics, steroids, narcotics and neurolytics
  • Cryoanalgesia: freezing of nerve fibers
  • Radiofrequency therapy: heating of nerve fibers
  • Intravenous therapy: infusions of Lidocaine through an IV
  • Bier Block: intravenous regional block
  • Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
  • Neuromuscular Stimulator (NMS)
  • Dorsal column stimulators (SCS)
  • Behavioral Medicine
  • Physical Therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Medical Management

Indications for Pain Management:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Pain from nerve injuries
  • Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
  • Cancer pain
  • "Spinal" headaches
  • Headaches and facial pain
  • Surgical incision pain
  • Pain following amputations and injuries
  • Arthritis pain
  • Pain from soft tissue injuries
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
  • Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD)

Physicians & Staff:

  • An Interventional Core Group of Anesthesiologists who are Board Certified in Pain Management
  • A Medical Management Team consisting of a physician who is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Oncology and Family Nurse Practitioners who specialize in medical management of persistent non-cancer pain and palliative care
  • A physiatrist who specializes in rehabilitation medicine
  • A behavioral health psychologist and psychiatrist who specialize in the treatment of chronic pain patients
  • An addiction specialist from the Sloan Clinic
  • Acupuncturists

*Through Baystate's affiliation with Tuft's Medical School, the Pain Management Center at Baystate Medical Centeroffers a Fellowship Program for anesthesiologists who chose to specialize in Pain Management. We are able to accommodate four fellows; the length of the program is twelve months. During this time they work closely with the attending physicians to provide comprehensive care to our patients. They receive extensive experience due to the high volume of patients.
