Recognition of Baystate Quality

  • Baystate Medical Center has a reputation as a quality hospital that promotes the highest level of patient safety. This is due to the importance that we place on quality measurement.

  • BMC participates with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to test how we can measure quality and how quality measures might impact hospital reimbursement. We measured and improved quality in over 34 different areas as part of the CMS Hospital Quality Incentive Project.

  • At a time when most American hospitals fail to meet safety goals set by the Leapfrog patient safety advocacy group, BMC fully complies with all Leapfrog standards for:
    • Computerized physician order entry
    • Full-time Intensive Care doctors
    • High volumes of complex procedures.

Leapfrog named BMC one of America's top 50 hospitals in 2006

  • BMC has received both a Quality Award and a Distinguished Performer designation from Premier, Inc. for its quality and safety programs. Premier is a national quality improvement organization comprising over 500 hospitals.
