• Baystate Medical Center (BMC) is accredited by the Joint Commission (JC)
• Most physicians employed by Baystate Health are board certified or board admissible

Research and Education

• BMC is the western campus of Tufts University School of Medicine and a respected research institution
• BMC is a clinical site for nursing as well as many other healthcare professions in Western Massachusetts

Outcomes

• Computerized Physician Order Entry system (CPOE) – BMC, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital (BMLH) and Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) all scored in the top 25 percent (best), performing equal to or better than the Leapfrog standard.
• ICU Staffing – BMC scored in the top 25 percent, performing equal to or better than the Leapfrog standard.
• Evidence Based Hospital Referral – BMC scored in the top 25 percent, performing equal to or better than the Leapfrog standard quality in four of the six procedures analyzed:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass
  • Percutaneous Artery Intervention
  • Pancreatic Resection
  • High Risk Deliveries and Neonatal ICU
• Safety practices – BMC, BMLH and BFMC all scored in the 25 percent, which was equal to or better than the Leapfrog standard.
