Dr. Matthew Brackman, Surgeon to present Abdominal Trauma to EMS providers in February

Ware, MA (February 3, 2012) Surgeon, Dr. Matthew Brackman will present Abdominal Trauma to area EMS providers on Wednesday, February 22 as part of the  Baystate Mary Lane Hospital EMT Continuing Education program.   The lecture will be held in the Main Conference Room located on the 2nd floor of the hospital and is open to area EMTs, Intermediates and Paramedics. 

Dr Brackman received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Tufts University in Medford, MA and his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston.   He completed his Surgical Internship at Boston City Hospital and his Surgical Residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.   Dr. Brackman also completed a mini Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center in the Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery.   Board certified in general surgery, and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery,

With a 14 year career in medicine and surgery, Dr Brackman speaks of a love for anatomy and an ability and passion to accomplish complex tasks with his hands.  “Surgery also allows me to cure, all at once, some of the most devastating ailments that afflict mankind; removing a cancer, reversing obesity, repairing a perforated organ,” said Dr. Brackman. “I feel a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction in caring for each of my patients.” 

Dr. Brackman joins the team of Baystate Mary Lane Hospital dedicated physicians who share their expertise in medicine by offering training and continuing education programs to the EMS providers who deliver pre-hospital care in the community.  Classes are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month, unless otherwise noted, beginning at 6:30 pm.
