Anesthesiology Residency

Our Curriculum Develops Skills You'll Need to Become A Consultant Anesthesiologist

We ensure that you'll leave with the necessary knowledge base, appropriate clinical skills and experience giving professional presentations.

Here at Baystate our residents have two focused months on the Advanced Airway rotation using all three advanced techniques (flexible/rigid fiberoptics & Intubating LMA) to intubate patients. Because 2/3 of anesthesia programs in this country do not offer any formalized instruction in this area, our residents typically go on to become leaders of difficult airway management practice and training.

Diverse Clinical Case Load Prepares You for Academia or Community Practice

Our clinical volume of more than 36,000 cases per year means you will see an extremely wide variety of cases from the complicated to those typically seen in a community setting.

Many departments with our case volume have two or three times more residents than we do. Our relatively small number of residents assures that you will have plenty of one-on-one exposure to the big cases.

A Friendly, Supportive Place to Learn

ALT

We have all that other university programs do, but in a uniquely pleasant environment.

With approximately 2 faculty members for each resident, we are able to develop closer, more effective resident-faculty relationships.

Baystate's Anesthesiology Residency is ACGME-accredited.

What Our Graduates Say

"Many of my new partners have commented on the excellent training I received. Many surgeons have been very complimentary as well. I feel very lucky to have done my residency at Baystate and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good anesthesia program."
