Clinical Activities

The department of radiology at Baystate Medical Center provides a broad array of multimodality and subspecialty services to the Baystate health system. Modalities include plain radiography, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and interventional radiology. Subspecialty services include pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, cardiac imaging, interventional radiology and breast imaging.


In-house faculty coverage extends from 7 a.m. until midnight every day. Coverage from midnight until 7 a.m. includes an in-house radiology resident with faculty available via teleradiology. 

 

Research Activities

Scholarly activities within the department have resulted in more than 10 papers at a published or accepted for publication in 2006-2007. 5 abstracts were accepted for presentation at RSNA 2008 in neuroradiology, body imaging, musculoskeletal imaging and PET/CT. Radiology residents are allotted a 4-week rotation in research to facilitate completion of presentations and publications, in accordance with the ACGME requirement.
